Motorhome fuel and hire costs in Ireland
Irish pumps price fuel in euro per litre, which keeps the sums simple. Hire prices swing with the season much more than fuel does.
This week’s Irish pump prices
These come from the European Commission’s Weekly Oil Bulletin, which every EU country reports to each week. The bulletin gives prices per thousand litres; we show them per litre.
The formula
Litres = km × L/100 km ÷ one hundred. Cost = litres × price per litre.
Visiting from the UK? Ireland works in litres and kilometres, and UK mpg figures convert to litres because an imperial gallon is 4.54609 litres2. The calculator includes official WLTP figures for one common hire campervan (40.7 mpg (WLTP combined, worst case), VW California Ocean 150PS 2.0 TDI diesel3).
What hire costs
Motorhome Republic publishes an “average 2 berth rental price” €166 (April), €275 (July), €139 (October)4. The page does not say whether these are daily figures, so treat them as a guide to how much the season matters, not as a price. The calculator starts with the April figure, labelled as an example.
